Leih dir mein Auto
I helped Leih dir mein Auto automate their marketing—from creating local SEO community pages to generating thousands of Stripe voucher codes—so this bootstrapped carsharing startup could scale without manual busywork. This case study shows how we used Notion, Typedream, Make.com, ChatGPT, and more to streamline every step.
Leih dir mein Auto (roughly “Borrow my Car!”) is a German carsharing startup enabling friends and neighbors to safely share their private cars via on-demand insurance. They needed help automating large chunks of their marketing—particularly creating dozens of local SEO pages and generating thousands of Stripe voucher codes for benefit programs. Here’s how we worked together.
Creating Dozens of Local Communities & SEO Webpages
The Challenge
Leih dir mein Auto wanted localized websites for neighborhoods and cities with populations of 50,000 to 100,000. These sites needed to rank high for local SEO searches like “Carsharing in Lübeck,” while also providing a neighborhood feel through:
• Direct links to local WhatsApp groups.
• Printable flyers and posters for community members.
• Extra travel inspiration, powered by ChatGPT, to highlight nearby destinations.

• Extra travel inspiration, powered by ChatGPT, to highlight nearby destinations.
The local websites were not only supposed to be a discovery tool for people that were looking for carsharing options in their reason, they also featured a community aspect, linking directly to a local WhatsApp group, where locals can find each other to share cars.
Manual creation of these pages would have been far too time-consuming for the small founding team. Automation was essential to make this local marketing strategy viable.
The Solution
To get the result we wanted, we opted for the following tech stack
- Typedream: Already the team’s website builder of choice. Conveniently uses Notion for CRM and content.
- Notion: Holds core information, triggers automations, and provides step-by-step guidance for each new community page.
- Make.com: Glues everything together with automations.
- ChatGPT: Writes brief paragraphs about local destinations to boost SEO with fresh, relevant content.
- Google Slides: used to create posters and flyers from a template.
To get going, we created a step-by-step process actionable process, that guides the users through each step of the creation process.
The first three steps are pretty straight forward: The user enters basic info about a target city or neighborhood into Notion and creates a WhatsApp group.
In step 4, an automation is triggered in Make.com that:
- creates a folder in Google Drive for the local community, ensuring easy access to all marketing assets and saving hours of manual uploads for each launch,
- creates QR Codes as pictures with the links to the WhatsApp Group and the local website itself and adds them to the folder
- creates the localized posters and flyers from the Notion information and includes the QR-Codes created in step 2
- updates the Notion database with the newly created information
Moreover, Notion formulas calculate the metadata for SEO purposes as well as a welcoming message for the WhatsApp Group.
In a second Make.com scenario that runs consecutively, ChatGPT is prompted to create search for local travel destinations and write up text and headings for the page to feature.
With all of this data in place, only a couple of clicks have to be made to launch the newly created website to Typedream and get them indexed in Googles Search Engine.
Creating Monthly Batches of Thousands of Voucher Codes in Stripe
The Challenge
Leih dir mein Auto secured a spot in the benefit program of Vattenfall—one of Germany’s largest energy providers. This opportunity required distributing 2,000 to 3,000 new voucher codes every month.
However, Stripe’s regular user interface only allows for the creation of individual voucher codes, as used in customer support cases, for example. So we automated the process via Stripe’s APIs.
The Solution
The process begins in an Airtable database, where the necessary information is entered and stored. Consecutively, the information is passed on to Make.com for automation purposes.
The way that Stripe handles voucher codes is a two step process:
- Coupons are created that hold certain metadata about the voucher codes, like the fixed amount, a percentage reduction, the validity of the coupon campaign and such.
- Each coupon can host a multitude of voucher codes, with individual alphanumeric codes used during the payment process for a discount.
While Stripe is well integrated with Make.com, a specific module for the creation of coupons and voucher codes is not yet provided. For this reason, we used a module to make an API to call create the coupons.
The information about the coupon is then passed on to Airtable and another workflow is triggered, that creates the voucher codes. The automation features a Repeater module, that stops once the specified number of voucher codes are created.
The codes end up in a Google Sheet, ready to be shared with the project partner.
The Results
Process automation enabled the team at Leih dir mein Auto to realize marketing efforts otherwise not viable with manual processes.
The local websites provided visibility in local communities, that often lack commercial carsharing offers. In many cases, Leih dir mein Auto appeared as the number 1 search result of the community.
With the voucher codes, Leih dir mein Auto was able to participate in a gigantic benefit program, where 6 digit monthly active users experienced the company right next to big mobility players like Deutsche Bahn, Sixt and Miles.
